Thursday, January 26

5:52 a.m. - So yesterday...it could have been worse.  I had a chance to read during free read Wednesday sessions, and we got all the students in the dual credit speech course through their first official speech activity.  And then the professional development session was fairly pointless, but I did get to spend time with colleagues talking about their courses and their instruction, which was nice.  The pandemic really limited how much we get to interact with our colleagues, so getting to talk with and listen to them was worthwhile.  And then I came home to a quiet night with just Amber and me and some summer and television and eventual sleep.

Today shouldn't be awful either.  It's not going to be great, but it shouldn't be awful.  In English III, the students have to register for their senior year, and the dual credit students in the two courses need to continue working on their coursework.  I'm not sure how much time the registration process will take for the English III students, but if we have time, we will continue to watch the documentary we started last week.

After school I'm headed to Prophetstown with Marcus and Tucker.  The best things about that experience will be the paycheck and the ride to and from the game with the boys.  The game itself won't be fun.

This morning I do have some work to do.  I need to get the garbage and recycle to the curb, but also need to shovel the driveway again.  A little exercise in the cold temps will wake me up.

Things to do for school

  • open Google Form for Slave Narrative option at 3:12 p.m.

    • Write an argument in which you select an historical figure you have encountered so far in English III or U.S. History that would prove to be an effective leader for the United States in 2023. In your argument include research of relevant background information of your selected individual, as well as her/his effective leadership traits (and if you believe those traits would translate to today's modern challenges).
