5:39 a.m. - Wednesday, March 6 -- “One of life’s most under appreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter." - Senator Mitch McConnell said this last week when he announced his retirement. Some may argue that he didn't tap into that "talent" early enough, but his thought is definitely on target. Maybe knowing when it's time to move on from one "chapter" to the next isn't admitting failure. Maybe it's just realizing that something else is in the journey. Now, the magic question is what is my "something else"? I think that's what I need to explore next. I guess I'm not really sure how to do that, but I'll figure it out.

Yesterday wasn't much fun. I keep getting "road signs" in my day - messages, conversations, occurrences that just eat at me - reminding me of how the culture and value of a high school education has just changed. Maybe the change is for the better...maybe families are focusing on families more...maybe families are working on the "social-emotional" fabric of their sons and daughters more...maybe student are more rounded in their personalities and skill sets now. If a high school education is less valuable, less important...maybe that's because other more important things are becoming more valuable.

I think today I'll get a start on scoring those essays. It's not going to be fun. It's not going to be quick. I need, though, to get a start and start chipping away at scoring them.
