5:45 a.m. - We received some much needed rain overnight along with some rumbles of thunder. Apparently according to the morning weather guy on TV6, storms may redevelop this afternoon. With that in mind, I guess my first softball game of the season is in question, and we'll watch the weather a little today.
Yesterday went okay. I attempted to motivate students to consider the magnitude of considering their futures. Maybe I got through a few folks by discussing the value of training after high school as well as how financing works with various paths. Then it was off for training on the SAT. We spent about an hour on the training, which is fine, but that's an hour longer than we ever have spent discussing what's on the test, helping our students perform better on the test, or how students have scored on the test in the past. Those things we never seem to discuss, but we do always have training on how to deliver the test.
In the afternoon the Southwell grandchildren were back as Kenzie was working downstairs in her salon. So Gigi decided to break out the bicycles. We didn't go far, but we did take our first ever trip around the village with Brooklyn and Brinley on their bikes. Luke rode in the cart with me pulling him, but he was feeling very good. Later in the evening he had a temperature, and Kenzie took him to the doctor - turns out he had a bad ear infection. While Kenzie and Luke headed to the doctor, I went with the remaining girls to watch Brooklyn and Brinley in their tumbling class. Watching that circus took me back to the days of hosting basketball camps for that age. I had a lot of fun, and I hope I helped a lot of kids enjoy the game or basically enjoy participating in sports in general. Watching the tumblers reminded me of how much energy it took to really host those events. I think I could still do it now, but I wouldn't have much extra energy at the end of the day. Today, Black Hawk College will be making a presentation to students, and this is the one presentation that has the potential reach for the most students of any of the presentations.
Later in the day, if the weather cooperates, I'll be working some softball at Rock Island. They are playing Sherrard I think. I'm not sure if it will be a good game or not because I'm not sure what Sherrard has coming back, and I think they have a new coach.
Did I mention my frustration that Former President Trump has secured enough delegates to become the Republican candidate to next become president? I just don't get how that many people really think he's the guy that should represent and lead our country. I just don't get how that many people continue to believe his crap. I do get that many voters aren't happy with President Biden. I do get that many voters may feel uncomfortable with President Biden's age. I do get that many voters aren't crazy about either choice. But Donald Trump? That sleezy, lying, manipulating, condescending, convicted criminal - that's the guy who that many Republican candidates is the choice? Sometimes I just have to shake my head. Is it camping season yet?
