6:16 a.m. - Flu is all around. Yesterday Amber learned that her daughters Kourtney and Kenzie were both sick, and this is after their kids have been sick. And last night Amber thought she was feeling the bug getting to her, but apparently it stayed away at least for now. Hopefully that flue bug will continue to stay away.
So for me it's back to work Monday after the long four-day weekend I took to complete a complete a couple of sick day appointments. Of course that means I woke up to an email message from a student today asking for more time for his essay after completing no work in the two class periods that were given to students during my absence. Needless to say, his request for more time was denied. He explained that the internet at his home wasn't working all weekend, and I'm in no position to make a ruling on that. All I know is that he made no attempt during class, and he asked me no questions if he was having any problems.
Yesterday, we spent some time with the Southwell grandchildren while Kourtney was trying to recover, and we went and visited Amber's mom and dad. Then we came home and Amber made a delicious lasagna meal, and we watched Cailtlyn Clark set the all-time NCAA scoring record and I watched the NASCAR race. In between there I did get in a little exercise, which was good. In the evening I went to the farm and visited with mom and dad after getting down some hay for the horses and getting a sack a feed out. After coming home, I called my brother to see how he was doing, and his knee replacements implants have not worked, so he'd going to go through it all over again with a different type of implants. That doesn't sound like fun at all.
Today it's back to work before starting the training path presenter series next week. That unit is lengthy and involves inviting a variety of guest speakers into the classroom to view presentations about various postsecondary paths that are available to students after high school. It's actually a lot of work for me, but I hope its beneficial for students to help them make some plans after high school. Tonight we are supposed to get some rain and maybe some storms. We need the rain, so a good soaking would do us some good.
