5;22 a.m. - Amber is back. I picked her up last night about 9 p.m. from the airport, and she seemed to have a good trip even though the temps weren't as warm as she would like. And she wasn't in Florida; she was in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Last night I got a phone call from Chase; it was so nice to hear his voice. We didn't really talk that long, and we didn't talk about anything earth-shattering, but he seemed in good spirits. Plus, he seemed to think he would be released fairly soon - perhaps this week. I'm just going to keep continuing to hope and have faith that good will occur next. Last night I also watched various girls sectional basketball games around the state. I tried to watch the one I was supposed to be officiating at, but the signal wasn't good through the NFHS Network. And I guess I didn't realize that not all schools were going to show their games on the streaming platform; I'm wondering how that works now. Tonight Rockridge boys play at Monmouth-Roseville, and as far as I know the game will be on the network. Yesterday, at school we had a good day. I got the lesson plan done that I needed to get done; I feel good about that change I made to the lesson plan, and I have my lesson plans complete for the rest of this week. I feel like I'm skipping around a lot in this entry, but last night as I was watching other basketball officials working sectional games, it became clear that my age and physical stature and even my limp because of my knee really are not deal breakers. It seemed like just about every official was my age, many appeared heavier than I do, and at least a few were not very fast with something noticeably hurting. I just need to get lighter...be lighter today than I was yesterday.
