6:03 a.m. - Yesterday was a snow day, and it was actually the first day that was a relaxing snow day. Amber went to work at SnowStar at noon, and I had the afternoon to get some things done while the house was quiet. My tasks weren't earth shattering, and they included working hard to make cook some steaks which I botched terribly. Everything was going good until I got busy on the computer and left the steaks in the oven too long. Now they are more like charred jerky. Before going to our basketball games at West Central, I stopped at Huffman's in Aledo and picked up some bird food and more ice melt. I think I am now supplied enough with ice melt to get through the weekend and next week.
So today it's back to school - again. Tomorrow is still a question mark, though. We are going to be right on the edge of snow day or not snow day. We are supposed to get a little snow - perhaps 2-4 inches, but the snow is supposed to end around midnight. We are supposed to get winds - perhaps 20-30 mph. And it's supposed to be cold - perhaps minus 20 to minus 30. If we didn't already have 25 inches of snow on the ground and piles of snow on the sides of the roads, I'd say we would likely go to school tomorrow. With the current snow on the ground, however, it's going to be a close one tomorrow morning. The decision may just come down to visibility when it's time to head to school.
Last night's basketball games were a little rough on the body. I hadn't worked any games since last Thursday. The games were actually close games, and we had three teams we hadn't had all season. Unfortunately, there weren't a whole lot of spectators, so the gyms were pretty quiet, which permitted all the stupid comments to be easily heard. I was innocently hoping everyone would be happy to be out and about and getting to play games, but the stupid spectator comments were rampant anyway. We did get through it, though.
So today, let's get back to school and try to get second semester going again. And hopefully, we can have school tomorrow and get some work done.
