6:57 a.m. - I'd like today to be somewhat productive but also somewhat relaxing. Apparently the forecast is for 5-8 inches of snow and forty miles per hour winds beginning Monday night, so that sounds like a good old fashioned Midwest snowstorm. I wasn't officiating on Monday anyway, so that's good. And I'm not really going to mind avoiding a trip to Riverdale on Tuesday night, so that's not all that bad either. And it's been awhile since we've had a snow like this, and SnowStar needs some snow to get up and running for the season, so that's good. I say let's get a Monday back to school day out of the way tomorrow and then let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Yesterday we were at United for a FS and Var. girls double-header, but we got out of there early because Bushnell-Prairie City isn't very good. That game Marcus and I enough time to get to Wharton Fieldhouse in Moline very comfortably. The game we had between North Scott and Moline wasn't all that comfortable, but we got through it. And the trip to Whitey's for a strawberry cheesecake with extra strawberries shake was a good way to end the day before going home. So far (knock on wood) the old knees are feeling okay for the beginning of the 2024 basketball season.
So today I'm going to get one last soak in the inflatable hot tub on the deck outside before snowmegeddon hits. After getting one last soak, I'm going to drain it and prepare to try to bring the hot tub inside. We are going to try to set it up in the basement for January and February and see if that works. I've brought the dehumidifier in from the camper to assist in the process. I'm going to have to play around a little with the depth of the water to see what works and doesn't work. If the only thing we can manage is to have a "hot water" tub, that's okay. I've really found that getting in the hot water helps me by allowing me to better and more easily stretch my legs - most importantly the right leg that gives me so much trouble because of the arthritis in my knee. So moving the hot tub inside is the "main project" for the day. I'd also like to watch some football - that's some of the relaxing time. I also would like to get in a little exercise. I'm not sure if all of this equates to attending church service, as I heard that we might have the Harrison grandchildren with us for at least part of the day, but I'm not sure when they are arriving. I would also like to get over to my parents house for a visit to check in on them and also get some hay down out of the barn for my mom.
