5:08 a.m. - Yesterday was a good day. I went with Amber to WalMart and Menard's in Muscatine in the morning. She just had some shopping she needed to do that didn't take very long, and since I was going to be gone in the afternoon and evening, I wanted to spend some time with her. After arriving back home, the Harrison grandchildren and Kenzie arrived for a quick visit. They did some painting, and I watched and read my book, which I ended up finishing. The book was Black Hawk's autobiography, and I found it very interesting. Prior to picking up Cole for our little trip to Burlington, I dropped off a coat to be dry cleaned.
I picked up Cole about 3 p.m., and we made our way southwest. I thought we were going to go to Carmen and Tyler's house, but they decided they wanted to eat at Pizza Ranch in Burlington, so we just met them there. We didn't really have to leave at 3 p.m. because they didn't arrive at Pizza Ranch until about 5:15, but that's okay. Having time to wait just gave me more time to visit with Cole. Pizza Ranch is always good because there's salad and pizza, but there is also chicken and mashed potatoes. Cole ate a lot, and he made the rest of us laugh with all of his choices and the sheer amount of food he ate. I think we ended up getting home around 8:30-9:00 p.m.
Carmen and Tyler both seemed good; I think there next baby appointment is in a couple of weeks. She is still dealing with a lot of nausea, but her spirits were good, and she had a good supper. I didn't ask Tyler about his work because I'm never sure how much his business has him busy - especially this time of year. All-in-all, the afternoon/evening went really, really well.
Today is back to school for second semester. While it's always nice to have a break, eventually it has to end, and the business of the school year returns. While I wish Christmas could have been a little nicer, the break itself was long enough. And the forecast that was calling for snowmageddon seems to be downgrading next week's big storm that was supposed to arrive - that's usually the case. Usually the big snowfalls seem to come out of nowhere, and the ones that are on the long range forecast never seem to materialize.
Tonight we have games at Sherrard; at least we don't have to travel much.
