5:13 a.m. - Yesterday was not easy at school. It's tough to convince students to think and to appreciate the value of writing according to standard English usage rules. They want the answer to be easy, get the task done to move on to something more fun, and by all means accept whatever form of the answer they write down. Needless to say, the battle rages on. Volleyball at Bettendorf went fine. The Jets vs. Bills game was interesting. I got home to watch it, and there was no Aaron Rodgers on the Jets. Apparently in the first series, he hurt his ankle and left the game. That didn't last long.
Today is the first in a series of PSATuesdays. I spent a lot of time yesterday working on learning more and more about the new testing. Today we will cover the student information packets. I think I can cover it fairly quickly. I also think I'm going to throw some SAT practice at them next week, but I'm not sure how that's going to work. I think I can see performance results, but I'm not sure whether or not students can have multiple attempts. I guess we'll find out next week.
Later today will be an adventure. Jacqy Peterson is going to be my partner for volleyball at Riverdale. This will be her first volleyball officiating gig ever. And the match is with Sherrard. There will be a big crowd, and it will be a tough game to work. Everybody has to learn somewhere. Let the fun begin.
