5:49 a.m. - Yesterday at school with English III students, I continued the process of introducing students to the new Digital SAT. I also spent some time digging into the types of reading and writing questions that students will see. I shared the doc with some of the high school staff and administration, and everyone responded to me expressing their appreciation for my efforts! NOT REALLY. In fact, once again I feel like I'm on an island of NO ONE ELSE CARES. Our state test has an entirely new format that legitimately tests students differently, and I feel like I'm the only person in the county that has even bothered to check into it. I'm sure that's not the case, and I no other staff members care, I guess I just thought there would be more urgency. Two-thirds of our juniors are taking the Digital PSAT next month; all of the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen will be taking the Digital Suite of SAT assessments in March/April. Shouldn't we be concerned? I guess not. Also yesterday, we worked volleyball at AlWood/Ridgewood. No problems occurred there, although it's a weird place for me to work - good memories and bad ones.
Today, Mrs. Bohnsack will be visiting the English III students to talk more about the new Digital SAT, including the Bluebook App and Big Future. I know not all the students will appreciate the information, but I'm at least trying to get it out to them. Tonight, we are headed to the football game, and we are watching our favorite cheer camp cheerleaders who actually attend Mercer County School District. Oh, and I have an IEP meeting after school.
Tomorrow, I picked up a freshmen volleyball tournament at Muscatine. Why not? We aren't going camping, so I may as well pick up a few bucks officiating some volleyball...it will give me a chance to work on some things...like finding the setter and getting a better understanding of rotations. Tomorrow night? Not sure. Sunday? Not sure about that either other than watching the Bears play on opening weekend. The Lions beat the Chiefs last night for the first game of the 23-24 season...that's a bit of a surprise.
