Thursday, September 28

6:22 a.m. - It's already been a good start to the day!  I came from the campground, and on my way out said a friendly hello to a possum, raccoon, and several deer.  On my way to the bathhouse this morning to use the bathroom I scared myself when I saw a reflection of myself on a sign, and I thought something was after me.  It was so dark and so still and so quiet; plus there was a little fog, so everything looked scary and creepy.

So my report on yesterday won't be a surprise when I report that I got the camper to Deer Haven in Loud Thunder after school.  Amber and I loaded up the trailer quickly, and I think I was out there before 4:30.  After getting set up, I made a quick run to Dollar General in Andalusia for some supplies.  (By the way, there was only one other camper, which suits me just fine.)  After getting back to the trailer, I put away the supplies and got a campfire going.  Supper was fire roasted hot dogs and a salad and some cheese curls.  I sat by the fire a little bit and then headed inside for some Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, and Hogan's Heroes.  Amber drove home because she thought she would sleep better.  I stayed the night in the trailer and slept like a rock.  Then this morning I was up around 5:15, made a cup of coffee, visited the bathhouse, watched a little news, and drove here to get ready for the school day.

The outlook for the weekend's weather is looking unseasonably warm but dry...suits me just fine.  With the shorter days, Mr. Sun doesn't have as long, so while the temps will warm up to mid-80's, the sun doesn't have as long of a day.  It should be a good weekend for camping, even if we run the air conditioning a bit.

Today at school it's a Tropical Thursday, and we are going to complete a journal entry.

Things for School

    • in Khan and Google Classroom
  • Encourage PSAT students to take a practice test through Bluebook on their Chromebooks

    • Select PSAT NMSQT
    • Time starts when you begin.
    • Under triple dots....save and exit...timer stops and work is saved...
    • 4 practice tests in Bluebook?  I haven't verified that yet.
      • starts with module 1 R&W (27 questions)
    • Can retake practice tests?  I think so.
    • If a student notices that their exam questions are getting easier rather than harder, they might think that they’re doing poorly on the exam and become more focused on how they’re performing than on doing their best. In general, the stress of not knowing how challenging the next part of the exam will be could increase test overall anxiety.
  • lesson plan for 10-2-23
  • score and enter John Smith assignments
