Thursday, December 31

6:42 a.m. - Today is the final day of 2020; the weather forecast for the first day of 2021 is another winter storm.  I hope this occurrence is not a reminder of how bad things may get until 2021 helps put 2020 in the rearview mirror for good.  I hope I can make this last day of 2020 a quiet, simple day.  I've managed to gain weight in 2021, which was not the plan.  At my lowest on July 13 I weighed 210 lbs.; and now this morning I weight in at 230 - a 20 lb. weight gain is a lot.  I think I've managed to adapt to intermittent fasting, which isn't a good thing.  I need to do a better job of cutting down on carbs, which for me goes beyond bread.  I have to do a better job of cutting out chips, sweets, and alcohol.  I don't really drink a lot, so that's not a big deal, but a little alcohol seems to really add up for me, especially when I combine it with carbs.  I don't feel out of shape right now as clearing the driveway and getting up and down the basketball court for six games on Tuesday was just fine.  I just feel too heavy, so I'm going to try to build on my health and try to get my weight back down...I think shooting for that 210 would be a good goal for 2021.  I hope that my officiating and umpiring schedule can return, so I can get back into being more active, which I know will help.

Things that I NOW think about with the coronavirus. (12/31)
In October, President Trump told America that 100 million people would be vaccinated in our country.  As of today, the number is just short of 3 million people.  Apparently we now have a vaccination distribution problem.  I wonder if professional athletes and celebrities and wealthy people are getting the vaccinations.  I wonder if schools will elect to go full remote until their staffs can be vaccinated.

Help me have...
    a pure heart, that I may see;
    a humble heart, that I may hear;
    a heart of love, that I may serve;
    a heart of faith, that I may abide in the spirit.
