5:59 a.m. - I suspected yesterday was going to be a long day, and it was. I was visited by Mrs. Graves, Mrs. Hasson, and Mrs. Bohnsack yesterday regarding student matters, which doesn't happen very often. I dealt with student matters yesterday, which doesn't happen very often. And then we had two varsity regional games at Riverdale and I didn't leave the diamond until 9 p.m., which doesn't happen very often. So yesterday was a long day. I don't anticipate today being a duplicate. I'd like to get through the day, get a haircut after school, and then maybe mow the yard. If I don't get to the yard today, though, tomorrow might work.
Our regional games went fine. I got straightlined on a play and had a safe call that was close that the Sherrard coach didn't like, and our crew was a little shaky at times executing 3-umpire mechanics, but that wasn't a big deal. Working in a 3-umpire crew is SO MUCH nicer than just two. Most of the time you just are in a better position to make the call. I was on third base for the first game and first base for the second game, so I was running around a lot, but that's okay.
One thing I really needed today was pay day. The cash flow has been in a crunch lately, so today couldn't come soon enough. The balances still aren't great, but there's a little breathing room now - just need to avoid unexpected expenditures at this point and give myself some time to build things up a bit again.
