Monday, May 6 - Teacher Appreciation Week

6:00 a.m. - There was a nice birthday party here yesterday for Darrin Southwell, Kourtney, and Karrigan.  All the grandchildren and step-children and their spouses were in attendance, and Jack and Rhonda were here too.  The kids even went swimming against my better judgement.  After day of getting stuff done around the house after returning from camping, I was beat.  I fell to sleep on the couch around 8 p.m. I think, and then when I crawled into bed after waking up from the couch, I went right back to sleep.  And now, I think I could go back to bed and get some more sleep.

Today is the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week - a little cruel since it's the last week for seniors at Rockridge.  Because I'm older and grumpier each year, the silliness and increased energy of the last week of seniors doesn't exactly sit well.  I don't blame them...this is an exciting week for them; they should be excited.  I just don't have the same energy capacity level.

And then I'm off to Geneseo for some softball umpiring.  I think I have a f/s double header today; that's a little unusual.  I need the work; basically, I need the money.  I've had some spring setbacks financially that were necessary but not necessarily accounted for.  Admittedly, though, umpiring softball strictly for the money isn't necessarily fun.
