Monday, May 13

6:11 a.m. - Yesterday was a nice day.  I got a lot of work done in the morning...moved the dirt I needed to move from the ditch, pulled weeds along the fence, spread weed killer in the landscaping rock and mulch, spread weed-and-feed on the front yard, and planted the flower bed.  About the only thing I didn't get done to the yard was spray weed killer, but the wind had picked up to the point that the task of spraying got delayed again.  About noon, we went over to Jack and Rhonda's because Amber had some flowers for her mom, so we visited for a bit.  And then Amber stayed home and got some rest while I went over to Aunt Mary's for a Mother's Day get-together with my mom's family - and there was a crew there.  I don't see Steve and Sue's kids and grandkids very often, and they were all there.  Time does indeed fly with all their kids getting bigger...the oldest of Sean and Amanda's is in driver's education...sheesh.  I really miss those gatherings with everyone there.  It's too bad Darren couldn't make it.

One other thing that was great about yesterday...in my truck driving down a gravel country road.  I know that doesn't mean much to some people, but talk about relaxing for me!  That's just a reminder that home isn't far away.

After returning home around 6 p.m., I went to work on the pool....again.  It's about ready for swimming now.  I need to get some chlorine in it, but the forecast is for a lot of rain today, so I thought I would hold off on that.  When I was done with that, the Southwells came over for a visit and some of their supper for me.  Pat had smoked some pork, and he was thoughtful and brought me some.  That guy can do some grilling and cooking; it was really good.

Today it's back to school, but the seniors won't be there, so the hallways won't be as full.  We'll get through the day, and then I have a night off from softball - good thing because it's going to rain anyway.  I think I will go in and get a haircut.
