5:45 a.m. - Last night Amber and I had a rare "evening out" on a weeknight. After school we saw Kenzie and the Harrison kids and Kourtney and the Southwell kids, and then we went over to Bettendorf. My friend Greg was celebrating his birthday at the Riverside Grill, and before heading there for supper, Amber and I stopped into the Isle Casino to try our luck. We weren't lucky, but we did enjoy spending some time with Greg and his family for supper. We didn't get home too late; the time was just about 9:00 when we arrived. On a full belly, it didn't take long for me to fall asleep on the couch watching basketball.
We indeed did dodge the big winter storm....looks like it might be east of us towards the Chicago area. That makes the way for a day at school and then the big basketball game tonight, which has been moved to Geneseo. I was really surprised the game was moved from Orion, but we did get tickets, so we'll head that way tonight.
At school yesterday we had some fun playing with some poetry and Edgar Allan Poe. I think I want to do the same today, but on a lesser scale.
Tomorrow I'm getting up and going with Shawn to Bloomington to the girls basketball state tournament. We have tickets to the games and passes to the IHSA suite, so we are hoping to "rub some elbows" with the big wigs...never hurts to know the right people. I think the Harrison children are spending the night tomorrow night, so I guess a quiet weekend is out.
