5:42 a.m. - Last night's boys basketball game was one for the record books. Rockford Lutheran missed a shot at the buzzer to propel the Rockets to a win and a trip to the state tournament finals. And the shot was a close one. The team played really, really well again. The only bad thing was an injury to Landon Wheatley. He came down wrong on a layup late in the game and injured his ankle. I'm not sure if it's broke or badly sprained, but he was in a lot of pain.
I think we got home around 10:00 p.m., so it wasn't too late of a night.
Today will be interesting. First will be last night's game along with the buzz and rumors of what will happen the rest of the week regarding school. Next, we have a blood drive day today. Fortunately I was able to finish scoring all of the essays and record the scores into Lumen. So basically, today could be one of those weird free-for-all days.
I know I won't be going to the state finals to watch the boys. We went last year, and it was just too much. If the team loses they play again that night, and it's an extremely difficult late night drive home and then early morning to get back up and go to work. Plus the seats when we got there weren't very good, so watching the game will be more fun on television.
In other news, Moline also won its supersectional, so it's going to the state finals as well. Pretty cool to have two area teams earning their tickets to Champaign.
