7:38 a.m. - Wow, yesterday seemed like a long, long day! I guess that makes sense because we didn't have a full day at all last school year. And wow did my classroom get hot by the end of the day, especially since it was a full room seventh period. I did execute a mask break each class period as I was directed, and it was okay. I just hope this move by the school district helps somewhat quiet all the vocal disgruntled community members (parents). I do wish there were benches or bleachers or something outside that would allow us to sit down, and I'm thinking that maybe I should go out the back and take the students under the trees by the junior high. All in all, though, the first day went well. I actually think I'm going to like first period prep period. And it's nice to be completely busy by the end of the day because I don't think about food.
Today, I think I'm going to experiment with my new weight vest and go for a bike ride and then a ski walk. I don't know how much the weight vest is going to help, but the 20-pound weight vest is a reminder to me how much weight I'm putting on my knees with additional weight. I put the weight vest on, and it's an immediate feedback signal that I need to lose 20 pounds before basketball season begins. Later, Amber and I are driving down by Lincoln, Illinois to look at a 5th wheel camper that is for sale. It's out of my price range, but Amber wants to look at it, and I'm okay taking a look a other campers as I learn more and more about fifth wheel units.
