6:02 a.m. - Wow, those were a couple of awesome NFL playoff games yesterday.  Today, it's back to the grind and the weather report is saying cold tomorrow morning and really cold Wednesday morning.  I will reiterate again that a school closing day sometime this week would not be disappointing.  This week will darn near get us through January, and that marks the definite downhill slide of the basketball officiating season.  Of course, already the softball season assignments are coming in, but softball is a whole different animal that basketball.  I don't work the weekends, and the travel is a lot less than basketball.  

The assignments for postseason should be coming out soon.  Pairings are going to be announced for girls on February 4th, so officials will likely be assigned the following week.  With that in mind, assignments are still likely a couple of weeks away.

I had a blast this past weekend with the grandchildren.  I know I'm getting older, so keeping up with them doesn't get any easier.  Their laughter and play, though, is just so much fun.  Oh, if we could all keep that kind of fun and joy in our hearts and that level of energy in our bodies!
