Sometimes, I don't sleep well when I don't have answers to problems that are close to me. The Holy Spirit helped me recently with help from The Sober Guy Podcast, Pastor Paul's message during the Facebook Live service of RUMC, and a blogpost that revealed part of the answer.
- The particular podcast featured the host sharing a bit of his story of recovery - how he had failed so many times, but getting back up from relapse could always be attempted, no matter how many times relapse occurred. In the podcast notes, he also shared a resource that was a link to receive a daily message via email that was supportive of recovery.
- Then this morning one of my unaddressed blog topics was the subject of this blog - What Will Your Verse Be? So I got online and found one that seems to be fitting.
- Proverbs 17:9 - Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
- And in Paul's sermon this morning, Paul discussed FANIFI - find a need and fulfill it.
So I don't know if my son will follow the answer that's now in my brain. I don't know if he will seek others to help him; I don't know if he will follow a path of fostering love to cover offenses and avoid repeating offenses that separates close friends, and I don't know if he will FANIFI. I believe, though, that I will pray and hope that he does, and that may be all I can do at this point. I will then hope that good things will occur as a result of his actions.
That approach isn't glamorous, but it's a start. And many thanks to the Holy Spirit for granting me an opportunity to wrestle and come to grips with helping me slow my spinning brain down and find a direction.
