Friday, October 30

5:26 a.m. - Yesterday was the longest school day of the year.  And it was not simple.  We had a 1:30 dismissal, but the staff also gave students some Halloween Holiday rotations to have some fun.  The staff was amazaing, and the kids had costumes and had a lot of great smiles and giggles.  But before that even happened, I had to drive a bus, but not just any bus.  Amber was already driving a spare bus, but on the way to IC, even the spare bus broke down.  So I got some experience trying to go faster to make up time and get back to the building with the students as soon as possible.  And then I helped Jesi and Steve get the broken down bus back to the bus barn.  Then as soon as I arrived back to the building, I had to jump on an admin meeting that was put together to inform the admin of a press release that was going to be pushed out later in the day about an alleged incidentt with a volunteer coach that had occurred off of school property.  The staff member has resigned, and that's about all I know.  Of course the press for the district isn't good.  And then after completing the bus route home, it was back to the building for parent-teacher conferences until 8 p.m.  Of course it took a bit longer to get everyone out and make sure the doors were locked and get all the lights off, so I didn't get home until around 9 p.m.  So I was at the building at 6 a.m., and I was out of the building by about 830 p.m. - Yup...that's a long day.

Parent-teacher conferences are back this morning starting at 8 a.m., but I don't have a bus route.  I do have to go get bagels for staff, and then I'll see what I can get done this morning.  I'd like to get out to the campground as soon as possible, but I also need to pick up the Escape, or at least pay for it and pick up the key.  We will probably do something tonight near the campground - maybe go to the casino, or maybe go to the Mexican restaurant near the campground.  And I want to watch some meTV!  I knew this was going to be another long week, and it has been.  By golly, though, we are going to get through it!
