5:28 a.m. - Amber's home! She arrived safely back to the airport yesterday afternoon and had some quiet time while I went to the school board meeting. And that meeting wasn't comforting. I listened to the conversation of our board members, and I know I'm not an engineer, but I'm not feeling very good about what Mr. Johnson was saying. It seems to me that he doesn't currently have confidence in the foundation work that has been completed in the past nor that is being completed now. It sounds to me like he's saying there is still risk in the foundation sinking as well as the upcoming cement flooring slab due to the type of soils that lie underneath the fill dirt. It seems like the BOE was going to consider hiring another engineering firm to review the work that's been done - like an objective third party resource to either confirm the work or determine potential issues. All I'm hearing is delay, delay, delay and maybe I'll never be able to retire.
And today? The highlight of the day is PreK and Kindergarten backpack night later this evening. I just need to figure out how to keep the hallway floor from being a skating rink. When it's this humid and hot out, it's just hard to keep the moisture from seeping up onto the floor. The rest of the day will just be working on little tasks and answering questions and putting out fires. I have to remember to take a bus to school too!
