5:20 a.m. - One backpack night down yesterday, and now there is one more backpack night today. But first it's the first institute day today with staff.
Yesterday was busy again, as expected. The day featured answering questions and putting out fires and assisting folks. I was able to get some things done. In the afternoon, I headed home to get Amber's bus to take back to school for backpack night. That worked out well because students and families were able to get on the bus and just explore and have fun. I stayed out in the stupid heat to say hello and welcome families, and I did a lot of sweating.
This morning, the heat is still on! There are supposed to be thunderstorms arriving this morning, so maybe that will cool off things a bit. Staff is meeting at the junior high-high school cafeteria today before heading to the elementary building. I've got some meetings I need to schedule, but I really wanted to get folks meeting with each other before trying to schedule those things. And after the long day today, we'll get that other backpack night in for first and second grade students.
We do have a staff meeting today, which will feature reminders and other info. The big thing we have is the influx of new staff. It's going to take some time for them to feel settled in and comfortable. Let's get it rolling! I keep telling myself this will be the LAST, but after Monday's BOE meeting, I'm not so confident.
