5:54 a.m. - Today is going to be a battle with Mother Nature. The snowstorm is currently coming from the east, so we still have a long way to go. This morning an Amazon has already made a delivery, so when she walked up the sidewalk, I had a chance to see how deep the snow is. It's looking like a good 3-4 inches out there already, and yesterday, the forecasts were calling for 12-16 inches of snow...sheesh.
Yesterday was eventful. Tyler, Carmen, Caleb, and I loaded up in the Ford and headed to the farm to care for the animals there, and then we all headed to Stacks to have a wonderful breakfast - even Cole met us there. After that, we headed to Mattress Firm to get a mattress and box spring ordered for the downstairs spare bedroom. We met Amber there, so we got approval for the mattress. Then Amber went home to meet up with Kollyns, and the Hoenigs and Bizarris headed to the Festival of Trees. That was really cool to see, and Caleb liked it too after he woke up. All of us enjoyed seeing the variety of decorated items. Then it was back home to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation because the kids had never seen it. After that, I headed to the farm to take care of the animals and prepare for the storm. It took awhile for me to get all of that completed, and then I spent some time with the kids watching Hallmark Channel. In all of that, the Bears beat the Eagles, and I didn't even get a chance to see it! We wrapped up the long, eventful day by getting Carmen and Tyler in the hot tub!
So today...the plan is to visit the farm and take care of the horses and check in on my parents. And in between, I'll be working on my driveway. Last night I did switch out my truck with my parents truck, so I could use the 4-wheel drive truck to get around better. I'm also going to fill up my gas can in case I need to use the generator. In between all of that, it's going to be hunker down, watch snow, and watch Hallmark Channel or football or basketball.
