5:19 a.m. - Yesterday was a good day! I went to the YMCA to start the day for a cardio workout. I tried to "speed walk" on the treadmill, and that went okay. I still am worried about my legs....they just aren't "normal". They seem to be getting stronger, but it really seems like a slow process. While in Aledo, I picked up some weed trimmer blades and shopped for Caleb's birthday party on Saturday. I didn't find what I was looking for there, though. Then it was off to ICE for some work there. Among some work things, I also had success with finding all the addresses, I believe, to the one-room schoolhouses for the district. Plus, I think we've settled on a date for coffee and donuts for alumni to talk about the plan to somehow display the history of the district. From ICE, I continued my search for Caleb's birthday present over in Muscatine, and there I had some success. I think he'll like what I decided on. After that I went home and thought we would be going over to Karrigan's in Orion for the evening. That got canceled, so I decided to do some weed-wacking and was able to get the south ditch done. Now I just need to get the west ditch done, and I'm hoping to do that this morning. After that, Amber and I decided to go see the Red, White, Boom fireworks by the Centennial Bridge. It was our first time trying to watch the fireworks from the expressway, which was the idea of Jack and Rhonda. So we found them and visited and watched the show. By the time we got home, it was about 10:00, so that was enough for the day.
Today, I'm going to try to get that yardwork done this morning, and then we are hosting a 4th of July pool party for some family and friends. I think my only job is to cook up some burgers and dogs, which is fine with me. I'm not sure what is happening tonight.
And yesterday, our Congress passed what King Trump has labeled "the big beautiful bill". From the information I've seen, it appears that the bill gives wealthy Americans more wealth and King Trump more power. News yesterday also included the Rockridge School District and the Teacher's Union coming to a tentative agreement for a new contract. That's much better news than the work that Congress completed.
