5:41 a.m. - Today is not a day I've been looking forward to.  While students/families have the option to learn full remote, the majority of students will return all together to school today.  The smallest class I will have is 18.  Let's see how things are going with Rock Island County, zip code 61284, and CUSD#300 in 10-14 days.  Maybe this experiment will work; maybe the COVID cases won't increase.  Maybe students will be much better off as many folks have predicted.  I'm almost glad Mrs. Mitola won't be there today, so she doesn't have to deal with this first day.  While today will be most interesting, this evening will also be interesting.  Our BOE will have a meeting and discuss this learning model and whether or not there will be basketball.  The meeting will feature a variety of contradictions.  I will have 18 students and one teacher in a 20' x 24' classroom; it seems reasonable then that the BOE will say it's okay to have basketball in a gym, right?  I guess we will see.

8:50 p.m. - I really tried to avoid saying anything at tonight's BOE meeting.  I just think it looks so bad for them to conduct their BOE meetings in a dang gym while I'm expected to teach 20 students in a small classroom.  I just felt compelled to make my voice heard.
