So when we got to the pub to try the Limburger, we told our waitress that we had heard about the cheese and wanted to try it. She brought out little cube samples, and each of us at the table tried it. The smell was indeed very strong, but the taste was actually pretty good. I didn't end up ordering a sandwich that featured the cheese, and neither did anyone else at the table. One of us at the table did make the mistake of smelling the cheese first, and literally she turned very pale white, and I was afraid she was going to be sick, but she recovered. There were only two of the seven of us that actually thought it was okay. That particular place, as the news piece suggested has been around for a long, long time. One other thing about the restaurant is that the waitress that too our order actually also assembled our meal. Keep in mind this was pretty much just like a soup and sandwich place, and there were cold sandwiches and hot sandwiches and a variety of soups. You could also order bags of chips and brownies and other little items. I don't know, though, that I've ever been anywhere that featured the waitresses also making the food. Think about lie a Subway or a Hungry Hobo where the waitress came out and took your order, then went back and assembled your meal, brought it too the table. I think we did end up paying at a cashier near the exit, so I don't think she handled any money, other than any tips that were left at the table. So that's my world's stinkiest cheese story. I hope you have some interesting stories to share too.
