5:16 a.m. - The clock got turned back last night.  So it's 5:16 vs. 6:16, but I get up early anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.  So on this early morning, I can report that yesterday was productive!  I got that darn tractor.  I decided to mow the grass, but I needed to wait until the grass dried a little, so I went to Andalusia and filled up the HHR and then went to visit my parents.  I helped mom with a couple of things, and I then came back home and mowed the yard - hopefully for the last time of the season.  And then I went and helped in the concession stand at the playoff football game, which Rockridge won.  Then Amber and I went to Luli'ls for supper; I had some homemade beef stew, and it was delicious.  They I came home and watch some football; I had to watch Iowa, though, because it was the best game.  Whew...that was a busy day.

Today, it's going to rain all day.  So today is going to be inside projects and watch football and running on the treadmill for some exercise.  Maybe I'll also read my book, and I'll probably get a Hallmark movie in sometime.

Saturday, Nov. 2

5:02 a.m. - I thought we were going to get through a day at ICE yesterday without any surprises....nope!  Around 2 p.m., in entered a couple and their son to enroll their student as a new student.  I wasn't anticipating this happen, so we rolled with it.  When I got home, Amber wasn't feeling the greatest, so we stayed home rather than going out to supper.  I did manage to work on the tractor a little, and I did manage to get a bolt off that had been giving me trouble.  I'm going to see if I can get everything put back together this morning.  I'm not sure, though if I have the right steering arms, which may cause a problem.  With a little luck, I think I can get it all back together and put back into the storage shed.  I think we are going to the Rockridge football playoff game too...should be a nice day for it as long as the rain holds off.

Friday, November 1 - It's the holiday season!

5:40 a.m. - I was previously told that Halloween was a big deal at ICE, and that was true.  The staff really went all out for the students to have a fun day.  I hope they are ready to go back to work today.  Each week I get to Friday, and each week it seems like a great deal has been accomplished for the week.  I'd kind of like today to go smoothly and quiet; I wonder if that will happen.  I do hope that Mr. Willard and the J.L. Brady crew were able to get the boilers going.  

I don't have much yet on the "to-do list" for the day other than a service tech to be in the building working on our fire alarm system.  I've discovered, though, that no day at ICE is routine.  Something will occur.  Yesterday even after the Halloween extravaganza, we had an injury on the playground that featured a really good split above an eye of a student.  He had had his mask on and was running around and fell on a hard piece of playground equipment.  

I tried to fix the mower after school today, but I am struggling with it.  I think I need a one inch wrench to get a bolt apart that will allow me to get the job done.  I'm going to try to secure one of those tomorrow - I think my folks probably have some big wrenches somewhere.

The reason for the title of "holiday season" is because apparently now at ICE, it's Christmas time.  Bring on the next adventure!
