Sunday, Sept. 13

4:43 a.m. - I woke up from a dream early this morning and couldn't get it out of my brain.  It was a story of kids trapped in a type of school or more like a boarding school.  I'm not sure how the kids arrived there, but the students felt bound (bonded) to the school, and there was also fear.  If a student seemed to fall out of line or behaved incorrectly something bad would occur.  Maybe it was if they students questioned something about their situation then something bad would occur.  Anyway, the rest of the students seemed always uncertain about trying or perhaps adventuring, and their fears were reinforced by something bad happening to them somehow.  It was like the students didn't understand that failing was part of life, and they didn't understand that a big superpower we all have in life is a willingness to help someone else with something that someone else needs.  Relying on other is important, and giving to other is important, but equally important is a person's willingness to adventure how herself or himself knowing that failing is part of the adventure, just like success, or the enjoyment of the journey of the adventure.  Because what type of adventure would you have if there was never failures or never success?  But what about the people who take the journey knowing they may never see or experience the successful results of the journey, but they still do it?  What about the people who see the failures time after time after time, but they still have the faith and/or understanding that successes will sprout beyond themselves and what they see and experience?  Now you've got someone that really has superpowers, right? And what if that person has the faith and takes the journey and works to fill the needs of others, and never asks (nor expects) for anything in return?  I do think, though, that person - who is that wonderful person - needs to work at fulfilling her/his own energy and faith.

Maybe it was watching Luke yesterday at his football game that helped generate my dream.  Luke was afraid or uncertain about participating.  There was something holding him back.  Eventually he was persuaded and looked like he was having a wonderful time, but it took awhile.  Maybe it was my recent experience at Friday's football game when there were dozen's of students who saw me and waved or talked to me or visited with me and were happy to see me there.

I suppose there are villains out there too right?  People who control others or control situations because of their own fears and uncertainties.  Perhaps their control is intentional; perhaps it's unintentional - wrapped around and within their own fears and uncertainties that even they themselves don't understand.

I don't think my dreams is some unique "theme of life".  I think similar books and movies have been created....just happened to be my dream last night, I guess.

Yesterday was a success.  We went to watch Luke play and Brinley and Brooklyn cheer - we being Amber, me, and Kollyns.  Then we came home and I thought Kollyns and I were going to take a nap, but apparently Gigi Amber was needed, so she took over, and I decided to mow the yard because the forecast on the radio was calling for possible rain today.  Knowing that the forecast is also calling for rain basically all week, I thought it would be best to use the time then to get the yard mowed, and I'm glad I did.

After the yard, it was time to watch football - Illinois lost; the Irish cruised in a blowout, and those damn Hawks ended up beating Iowa State.  About halftime of the Illinois and Notre Dame games, I headed down to Andalusia and picked up fish fry dinners and donated to the cause.  I'm not sure the meal was the best I've every had, but it was something different.

And today....I hope the rain holds off, and I hope the RV guy gets here to fix the camper.  I also hope to watch the Bears play and get some exercise somehow.  And I hope to not eat as much food as I did yesterday.
