5:37 a.m. - And so the heat continues. Now school has been canceled tomorrow as well, and this is Labor Day Weekend, so we won't be going back to school until next Tuesday. It's going to be rough for our PreK and Kindergarten students to start back to school next week!
Yesterday, I had a good day. I needed to go to get more chlorine for the pool, so I decided to see if Mr. De Reya was interested in joining me. I stopped by his apartment and asked him if he wanted to go, and he did. We did a little driving tour of the district - took him to Illinois City Elementary and Loud Thunder and went through Andalusia. We stopped at Black Hawk Park and got in a little walk which felt good for my left knee. Then we went to Sentry Pool for the chlorine and stopped by mom and dad's on the way back home. We had a real nice visit, and I had a chance to get to know him to possibly see how I can assist him moving forward. I think he appreciated the opportunity; at least he seemed to enjoy it. Now I think I'll try to include him in a couple of things with these extra days off and the Labor Day Holiday Weekend - especially since Amber is going to be out of town anyway.
After getting back, I was able to mow the backyard high grass. (I think today I'll mow the rest of the yard.) And then the Harrisons arrived as well as Kristi as well as the Bakers to take a little cool off dip in the pool. In the evening, it was relax and watch television.
So today...more of yesterday - get some exercise, mow some grass, and then see what else the day brings us. One other thing that was accomplished was getting the Escape down to Slayden's for some work. I'm a little worried about the costs on this one. I needed an oil change, but that's probably going to be the cheapest work. I also need the right rear tire replaced, and some alignment work. Finally, I need the spare tire improved - need to be able to get to it, and/or possibly have a new spare tire all together. If that cost exceeds $500, I may have to do some thinking.
