Tuesday, April 16

5:50 a.m. - Day two of what will be an interesting week takes place today.  Day one of the week went fine.  The school day was okay, and the softball game at Monmouth-Roseville was okay except for a weird obstruction call or in this case no call.  A runner surprised me by attempting to take an extra base, and I was looking a different direction.  It all ended up okay because the defense didn't even attempt to make a tag, but I didn't see the obstruction.

Day two is calling for severe thunderstorms.  The weather guy is saying we are in an enhanced situation.  I think it's interesting how weather forecasting has progressed over the years.  I'm not saying that it's bad that such things as "First Alert Day" exist, but it seems a bit dramatic.  I hope the storms aren't bad, but it's good to be prepared, so I'll do some things this morning like bring the garbage cans in and switch the generator over to the other side of the garage just in case.  I decided yesterday to take a personal day this afternoon in order to get the chlorine I need for the pool.  Plus, I'm going to go get a haircut.  The plan is to complete the S.A.T. and then head to accomplish those two tasks before the worst of the storms are in the area.   High winds, tornadoes, and hail are all possibilities - it's the hail that I'm most concerned about...forecast is calling for possible egg size hail - now that can tear up roofs, siding, and vehicles.

The S.A.T. will be a new experience.  Oh, I've proctored many A.C.T. and S.A.T. tests, but this is the first time I've proctored the digital S.A.T.  Hopefully it will go okay.  I used to really be concerned and excited for the S.A.T. and its results, but since arriving at Rockridge I seem to be on an island with that interest, so I must admit that I'm not as excited.  We never talk about the scores; we never look at the results; we never look at the questions; we never even discuss what is on the test.  All we seem to worry about is completing the test, so that's not really much to get excited about.

On the national news, Former President Trump is now on trial for his case involving paying off a porn star.  It’s interesting to see the different coverage of the various “news” channels and news commentary channels, as well as hear from the attorneys of the prosecution and defense.
