6:07 a.m. - Yesterday after I came home I had about 20 minutes before a total of three grandchildren and two dogs were in the house. They left around 7 p.m. Needless to say, the time spent was with giggles and screams of the Harrison kids and the licks and playing of dogs, including a puppy. And also needless to say, I didn't get any schoolwork done. Okay, then, we'll try to get more accomplished today. I'll get a little extra time at school because the juniors are taking the Illinois Science Exam in auditorium for at least the first three periods of the day. I honestly don't know much about the exam, and apparently the students don't either. Evidently, the assessment isn't much of a priority at RHS....then again, I really don't think any of the big assessments are much of a priority. Today will be a break away from battling students to cooperate...remove devices out of their ears and put their phones away and perhaps listen to someone providing information that may one day be valuable - a never ending battle.
Today the rain was supposed to be all day, so I didn't think I would have softball. This morning, though, it looks like the majority of the day is going to be dry after last night's rain. Maybe we will have softball? It's going to be a "wait-and-see" day.
Four more days are left before Spring Break. I already had my first student tell me that he will be leaving early for Spring Break. This will not be the first...in fact, my guess is that some of the absences yesterday were already Spring Break absences. Much like assessments not being a priority...attendance really isn't a priority either.
