6:13 a.m. - The four games of softball yesterday was a little hard on the ole right knee, but the weather for the day was nice, and I appreciated the chance to get all the gear on and make sure everything fit and was ready to go for the upcoming high school season. The time limit for each game was set for 70 minutes, but I think only one of the three games went the time limit. The pay for those games is $40 per game. So I left my house around 9:30 and got back around 5:00 and had $160 cash to show for it. An umpire can really make a lot of money on the weekend just working youth softball, and an experienced umpire can make that money relatively easy because experience helps the coaches and the players be more relaxed, which makes for a better (easier) atmosphere. I admit that I came home yesterday and basically "tapped out". I spend the rest of the evening on the recliner and then went to bed early. This morning I have two games, and then I hope to get to my parents' house to help them with a couple of projects. I also might mow the grass again...getting a little shorter cut - maybe even spending some time lowering the deck like I need to. I also have some school work to get to, and I may be meeting with Arda this evening. Next weekend Amber is working all both days at Shivers, so I may as well work softball again. I'm not sure where I'll be, but I'll be somewhere. I just wish my knee was in better shape...well, actually I wish I was 30 lbs. lighter and in better overall shape, and then my knee would be in better shape.
