Wednesday, November 6

5:07 a.m. - Today opens with excitement and frustration - Rockridge will have a new school built.  Unfortunately, it will be under the presidency of Donald Trump, who defeated Kamala Harris last night.  For the life of me, I cannot understand this fascination and infatuation of that man, but it is what it is.  I hope the United States is strong enough to withstand him again.  I think I'll just focus on the good news of the morning.

The school vote measure passed overwhelmingly - like 70% to 30%.  It will be an exciting time with lots to do and for us in our home, lots of construction to look at for the next couple of years.  The community group that was organized by BLDD sure did put in a lot of work, and it sure did work to be transparent.  I'm proud of our school district for how it proceeded and executed the process.

Yesterday after voting I did get some bounce sheets and moth balls around the camper to try to keep out mice.  I did also order some additional stuff that I'll put in the trailer later this winter.  After that I pretty much stayed home and watched television.  I did finish my book, and it was really good.  I hope to start a new book today.

Actually, I hope to survive the day.  It will be a busy day at school, and then I have junior high girls basketball.

Tuesday, November 5 - Election Day

4:32 a.m. - It's election day, and there's no school, and I didn't sleep very well last night, so I'm up early.  My sleep issue isn't because of election day or no school; I decided to fast yesterday, and when I do that I don't sleep as well.  I need to cut down on calories, though, and finally lose some weight, so it's time to get focused and do the job that needs to get done.  I'm never going to be 21 again, but I can be a lighter 58; I just need to set my mind to it.

It is election day, though, and I fear that Donald Trump is going to win the election.  I think there are too many people in our country that are anti-government and are nationalist in nature and don't really care that he's a really bad person.  Let me be clear, anti-government and nationalism are necessarily bad things in context, but the combination of anti-government, nationalism, and criminal behavior is not what I want our country to be led by.  The other big event of the day is voting for the school referendum.  I do think it will pass, and I have a wager of buying dinner with Mr. Bush that it will pass by 65% margin or better.  That may be too bold, but I do think the proposal will pass, which will be exciting news for our school district.

Today, then, I'll be voting and reading my book and I would like to visit the camper and try to do a little work on it.  I need to try to "mouse protect" it as much as possible.  Hopefully the little buggers haven't already gotten in and started exploring.  I'd also like to get in some exercise, and I might head to the farm and help my mom move some chickens around.

Yesterday was not easy; it wasn't hard, though, either.  We had an election for president at school, and I'm glad we did that.  Amber had a hard day with a couple of dad's that didn't like her election activity, but I didn't hear anything from anyone at our school.  Of course Trump won by something like a 72-35 vote, which wasn't surprising.  We also had a new substitute teacher in the building, and she did okay, which was nice to see.  I had to deal with a "frequent flyer student", and I had a couple of bus referral incidents to deal with, and there was an additional student that needed some "downtime", but those things aren't highly unusual, and those things are part of my role in assisting staff and students.

Monday, November 4

5:22 a.m. - As productive as I was on Saturday, I was just as much of a slug yesterday.  I did attend church service at Taylor Ridge with my mom, but after that I pretty much laid around the house and watched television and the rain.  Oh, and I ate too much food.

Today, the rain is forecasted to let up during the day and return in the evening - fine by me.  I think I'll try to get out into the classrooms today, and my hope is to have a smooth day.  Of course, every time I say something like that, something surprising happens.  I do have a junior high girls basketball night tonight.  I'm not real sure who I'm with tonight, though.
