5-7 Period 2

Energy level of students is low today....that's okay, though, because mine is low too.  Mother's Day is Sunday, and it's an important day for me because there are moms in my life that have been very good.  My mom is amazing....she has a heart of gold and she's a go-getter - almost to a fault.  My children's mom - my ex-wife - always wanted best for her children and for that I'm thankful.  She and I didn't always agree on the "best" thing, but I knew her heart was in the right place, even though I eventually gave up on the idea of trying to live the rest of our lives together.  And then there is Amber, who is also an amazing mom and now Grandmom.  She is also somewhat like my mom in that she gives of herself to those kids and grandkids to a fault, which frays her nerves and depletes her energy level at times.  I hope a little camping this weekend allows her to have just a little time on her own.  Moms deserve a day of celebration, and they deserve a bit more most Dads I know on Father's Day.  Dads are important too, but moms usually seem to be the heart and soul of most families - at least most that I know.  I was thinking last period that a great Teacher Appreciation gift would be to let teachers go home after students leave the building.  I might just decide to mow the yard before we leave for Loud Thunder, or perhaps we could just get an earlier start to our camping weekend. You know what would be even better for Teacher Appreciation Week - no rain this weekend.  There you go Mother Nature....how about a little gift from above and keep it dry and sunny and warm this weekend?
