5:40 a.m. - The sun finally decided to show itself yesterday. It was a nice change of pace. Yesterday I went to church, spent more money at Lowe's than I needed to, then went to HyVee and spent more money that I needed to, then came back home and worked on the flower bed and eventually worked on cleaning the pool a little. I did manage to get a brief bike ride in and swam the length of the pool and back five times. So I did get a little exercise. I also read a lot of my book that Dad purchased for me. I'm gaining a better understanding of the Battle of Gettysburg, and I continue to realize how much I really didn't know about one of the biggest events in the history of the United States. Carmen stopped and worked on cleaning her furniture, so it was nice to see her. Cole unexpectedly stopped for a visit, but his visit ended abruptly when he just up and left when I tried to understand what his "plan" was for next school year. I'm a little concerned about what he's thinking, but he's a big kid and will eventually make up his own mind. I really don't think most parents insist on a particular path for their children; they (like me) just want their children to find a path they can be successful in and enjoy life comfortably.
Today, it's back to work, but it's the last full week of the school year. Of course before this entry this morning I had to read and respond to a parent email expressing a question about why her student had a B+ for a grade instead of an A-. She commented that she was "kind of watching" his grades. Ya, like I'm "kind of" ready for the school year to be over. I sort of feel sorry for the student, but then again, I really don't. He doesn't really strive to be a strong student, so it's not like he deserves strong grades. I think he really only gives an effort to keep his mom off his back. Today is sort of like an extra Friday, though, because I won't be at school tomorrow. I'm helping with the Harrison kids while Kenzie attends Karrigan's ceremony.
