Tuesday, May 18

5:30 a.m. -- I got my rain out yesterday!  Plus, there's more rain today, and I'm actually open from a cancelation that occurred a few weeks ago.  Since I didn't get all the projects graded yesterday, today will be my chance.  At school today, we are going to start the film Dead Poets Society as part of the unit on Modern Poetry.  We will still get a FRW in tomorrow and a blog entry in probably on Friday, so this film will likely go into next week.  I'm honestly not in that big of a hurry to accomplish a whole lot right now.  If the weather turns warmer at the end of the week, the students will start to get restless about summer vacation.  Surviving with each other throughout this week and next week will be the goal.

Yesterday, our new basketball officiating crew received 17 games from one of the area assignors, and the games are for the WB6 and MAC conferences.  And one the places we will be going to work is Quincy.  That's one place I've never been, so I'm already looking forward to that opportunity.  That news yesterday already helps exceed the goal I had set for the new crew.  I figured if we were able to just get a couple of games a week working together in our first season we would then have a good start.  Now, though, I anticipate we will be looking more like three games a week and perhaps more.  With what appears to be a very busy basketball season, I hope that's more motivation for me to get back into better shape and lose another thirty pounds because that would really be good for me.

I'm still not sure what to do about this weekend.  I could use a little extra spending money, but I could also use a weekend off.  All this rain and warm weather is going to cause a grass growth explosion, so I'll need to mow, plus the pool is going to need vacuumed one more time.  Speaking of pool...Amber suggested we turn the heater on - the same heater that had it's gas line cut to it earlier this spring by the Reynolds Telephone installers.  Anyone want to come test out the repaired gas line and pool heater for me while I'm miles away?
