Sunday, September 8

5:36 a.m. - Yesterday was a bit odd.  I watched youth football at Rockridge; I watched youth football and youth football cheerleading in Aledo; and I watched college football and napped at home.  I was having a perfectly good, relaxing day, and then Northern Illinois decided to pull off the biggest upset in Notre Dame history and put my day into a tailspin.  I was so frustrated and had done pretty much nothing all day, so I had just the right amount of energy to go out and mow the yard in what could have been world record time.  Thank goodness after coming back in that Illinois beat Kansas.

So now that I got the yard mowed, I don't really have a whole lot of official business to tend to today.  I'd like to visit my parents, and I'd like to drive down to Fort Madison and see Caleb.  Other than that, I'd like to get some exercise in.  Oh, and I'd like to watch the Bears play at noon.

Saturday, September 7

6:27 a.m. - I survived the early morning dentist appointment.  We survived the lockdown drill at the school.  Kenzie got her first look at being a para in our building.  We went to the varsity football game.  I'd say yesterday was a pretty good day.

Today, we are going to watch some youth football and some youth football cheerleaders.  Then I hope to watch some college football.  In between all that, I hope to get some exercise and mow the yard.  Maybe tomorrow I can run down to Fort Madison and see Caleb. Next week is going to be busy.

Friday, Sept. 6

4:40 a.m. - I knew yesterday was going to be a long day.  I didn't know it was going to be the longest day of the new school year so far.  I worked diligently to put out fires and address items that needed to be addressed in the morning, and as they day progressed the post-it notes on my desk just kept accumulating.  And then we went to officiate volleyball at Mercer County.  The evening went fine, but it just meant for a longer evening.

Today is going to be rough...I have a dentist appointment in the morning - ugh.  Then I need to get back to school and find out what fires are burning that I need to squash before we have our active shooter drills beginning at 1 p.m.  I'll be glad when 3:40 rolls around, and all the students are safely out of the building on the buses.
