4:17 a.m. - I'm up earlier than I would like on a Saturday, but my games have been canceled due to a forecasted winter storm, so maybe I'll just be taking a nap later.
Yup...yesterday was another long day. At school there was an assembly with a performance of Christmas songs by the RHS choir, and then I had to run and get lunches for the staff members at ICE that remained at ICE for the PD day, and then I got a few things done in the afternoon, and then it was off to Monmouth-Roseville for a night of officiating that included an incident in the third quarter of the varsity game that was the closest I've had to a fight on the floor between players. In order to get play moving on, I even needed to attempt to separate coaches. It was a mess, but I thought we handled the situation well and then clamped down a little more during the rest of the game to be sure no further incidents occurred. And then...we went to Papa's and had some food - we had earned it.
And the news of the day...today's games at Monmouth United and Abingdon have been canceled due to a weather forecast that includes a snowstorm. Now I have three days to heal and get stronger for next week's games, and I get a chance to relax from what has been a long stretch of school days.
