5:44 a.m. - As expected, yesterday was a long but productive day.  I didn't get back home until 9:30 after volleyball action at Riverdale.  The day featured three speech presentations first period, and then we had our first "participation discussion" in the English III sections.  In taking a peek at next week, it's also going to be a long week with four nights of volleyball.

There will be no camping this weekend.  There will be some softball umpiring, so grandchildren, and hopefully a whole lot of football.  I think the weather is going to cooperate...dry Saturday for umpiring and rain Sunday for me being on my butt on the couch watching football.   

Today hopefully will be productive again.  I do have an evaluation observation sixth period with Mrs. Hasson sitting in for an observation.  I don't have the best "dog-and-pony-show" lesson plans, but I will be showing her what we do with journal writing and sharing and start the students on their next piece of literature.

By the way...Queen Elizabeth II passed away today...weird.  I'm 56 years old, and she's always been the queen.  Her reign lasted 70 years...that's going to be a challenging transition for Great Britain.
