Wednesday, May 6

6:05 a.m. - Yesterday, I returned home, and the morning went pretty smoothly.  I was seen by OT, PT, labs, the physician assistant, and the nurses on the floor.  I was out of the hospital by around 10 am., which was really good.  I then assembled all the medications that I'm taking, which is something new to last year.  There is a nerve pain medication and there is an additional pain medication that is not the hydrocodone.  Kristi and Mallory stopped by to visit around noon, and they brought some Chik-f-let, and mom visited in the afternoon.  In the afternoon, Kollyns arrived and Karrigan came to pick her up, but I was taking a nap in the blue room.  After they left I came back out to the living room and watched the Cubs game - trying to find the right combination of materials and resources to try to be as comfortable as possible.  I think I ended up sleeping okay.  I had to wake up around 2:20 a.m. to use the restroom, but I was able to go back to sleep and woke up for the day around 5 a.m.  Now I've had a breakfast sandwich, some coffee, and the seven a.m. pills I'm taking.  I'm in the power recliner with my ice machine working on the surgery site.  As I've told Amber (and others), I just don't have the burning "on fire" pain that I remember experiencing with the right knee.  Instead, the leg just is "numb" - control over nerve pain is definitely better this time around.

Today....well, I want to try to stay busy, and I want to follow directions and try to keep my leg(s) as elevated as possible.  I should be able to get some things done and do some reading and just relax and give myself time to heal.  I hope to try to avoid sleeping a lot, but I think I'll give myself an opportunity to take a nap sometime.
