Friday, March 7

5:28 a.m. - As horrible of a day that existed at ICE on Wednesday, yesterday was good.  The sun was out with warm temps, so the students could get some time outside.  For the most part, students' behavior was good.  I was able to get some things done.  Most importantly, we had the first day of the community friend pilot program.  It was a meet-and-greet with volunteers from the community to see our building, discuss some aspects of the program, and get matched up with the student friends.  The adults seemed excited, and the students seemed excited.  There was some hand holding and there were a few hugs, and I even already received a couple of good comments from parents.  There are some days (like Wednesday) where you walk out of the building wondering if you'll come back the next day because the day went so bad, and then there are some days when you walk out with some pep to your step thinking you really made a difference in the lives of some people.  That was the type of day yesterday.  After school Amber and I went up to El Barrill for supper and even went down to Shivers for some ice cream.

Now to get through today.  It's been a real, real long week.  I'm not saying today has to be as good as yesterday, but it would sure be nice to have the day go quickly.  There are some data meetings I'm going to attend in the morning, so maybe that will help the day go quickly.
