Wednesday, March 26

6:41 a.m. -  So yesterday ended quite interestingly.  We aren't really having an exotic spring break, but that doesn't mean there aren't adventures.  In the morning, Kollyns arrived, and we had her pretty much all day.  I think we ended up taking her home around 3:30.  Throughout the day, though, I was working on finalizing a purchase for a truck.  I needed to get financing where I was more comfortable, and I needed to verify the title - make sure the truck wasn't a stolen vehicle.  I was able to get both of those tasks accomplished, and then I went to the bank and signed the loan agreement and picked up the cashier's check - the biggest check I've ever had when purchasing a vehicle.  In and around the appointment at the bank, I ended up fixing that dang gas shock on the bed of the camper that somehow failed when we were cleaning underneath the bed and putting the bed together.

So ... baby in hand...cashier's check in hand...we headed to Orion to drop off Kollyns with Karrigan and then head to DeWitt to pick up the truck.  Any purchase I've ever made like that is accompanied with doubts....am I doing the right thing?  Is this purchase worth the money?  Can I afford this new purchase?  Should I just stick with what I've got?  And those questions pretty much continued right up until I handed the check over and received the title and drove away in the truck.  And on the way home, driving from DeWitt, and started to feel more and more comfortable that I did the right thing.  I have been looking to upgrade to a one-ton for awhile, but I needed to find something in my price range.  This truck I purchased was a one owner truck from Texas.  It's a simple truck...it's job is to pull a trailer, and there are not a lot of the fancy bells and whistles that come with other packages - Lariat, King Ranch, etc.  I'm under the impression that this truck was ordered by the previous owner, and he only got the package he needed.  This truck doesn't have power seats or fancy digital screens or televisions or back-up cameras or heated seats or a heated steering wheel.  It's a truck that is good at pulling trailers...and that's what I wanted.  As Amber would say, "It's a Jay truck."

Now I have work to do.  I have to go to the DMV to get the title transferred.  I need to clean out the GMC and prepare it for sale.  I need to learn how to operate/maintain a diesel truck.  I need to learn how to use a different fifth wheel hitch.  I guess life is an adventure.

So today is going to be busy.  Get to the DMV, get to Monster Sewing, get to an eye appointment, get to an officials meeting....and in between, try to get some things done here at home.
