5:04 a.m. - Yesterday went as I had hoped. It could have gone a little faster, but I accomplished all I needed to get accomplished. And last night we worked some three-man basketball which was welcomed. Three-man mechanics are a little different than two-man, so it's good to get on the court and get in a little practice before the real thing begins next week. After the scrimmage at Monmouth-Roseville, Tad, Marcus, and I had some supper at Papa's, and it was nice to do that and chit-chat.
Today I have three junior high games in Joy. I'll be in the gym where I started my coaching and teaching career at Westmer in 1989. It will be fun to go back. After the games, I'm not sure what's happening. This weekend I would like to get just a little more done on the yard - particularly the backyard and along the ditch.
With last night's paycheck and today's, I'll have a little breathing room with some cash flow until pay day next week.
Next week is a full week, and then the week after is Thanksgiving week. I checked my officiating calendar...beginning Monday and through Dec. 22, I have one open day with no officiating - other than Sundays - on Dec. 20th. And I'm guessing somehow that day will eventually get booked. After Christmas I currently have nine open dates until February 10 when the girls postseason begins. I'm pretty confident those open dates will also close up as the season progresses. It's a daunting schedule, but I love basketball, and the pay will help boost up some reserves that have taken a hit this fall from unexpected bills.
