6:12 a.m. - It's back to school! I'm supposed to be excited, right? Well, I guess mentally I'm ready. Physically, I wish I had lost some weight. I'm not even putting myself on the scale this morning as this past weekend's camping meals likely shot me over 240l bs. I want to get down to 200 lbs. That's the goal...back at it today. And after looking at my classroom yesterday, there will be plenty of work to do to get a good workout in. It is pay day today, so that's good.
Chase's pretrial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today, so I'll be thinking of that. I did get a message from him that was dated August 11 to "end things positive". He said his counselors in jail reported to him that he is doing well. He also told me a lot of other "Chase stuff" - basically that he is leading the right path, and I am leading the wrong path. So I'm going to go to my work in which I just got paid this morning from my nice house after having a wonderful weekend in my camper with my family. He's going to face a judge in a jail jumpsuit and discover whether or not there is a high likelihood he will go to prison, stay in jail, or be released with no job, no home, and no income. Somehow he being on "the right path" just confuses me.
6:47 p.m. update - According to the county website, Chase was released from jail today...from what I understand, he's looking at two years of probation, required drug and mental health treatment, some community service, and some fines. I can only hope for the best for him now. He's communicated to me that he really doesn't want to hear from me.
I got a lot of things done with the classroom today, which was good. There is still a lot more to do, but I can at least take students beginning Wednesday. I needed to get my desk put back together and the computer put back together. There is a feel of a lot more space now, which will be appreciated.
When I got home I was able to work on the lawn mower a little and then get the yard mowed. I needed to adjust the deck, and I don't think it's exactly right yet, but the cut is a lot better than it was the last time. It was nice to get that done today.
