5:52 a.m. - Yesterday was another day at school...I'm trying to keep the English III course painfully simple...read, answer questions, discuss, self-score, move to the next section. Simple, right? Many teenagers I work with, though, think that if what they are presented to tackle isn't worthy of their time and effort - they just don't do it. Or worse yet, they steal someone else's work and submit it as their own. So now I'll deal with that today...just part of the job, but this is something I won't miss when I retire.
I did appreciate working softball yesterday...the weather was great, and I had a chance to work Western Big Six softball, which mean the catchers work their butts off stopping bad pitches from getting to me. It's so nice to know the chances of getting struck with a ball are extremely rare. The game itself was lopsided, but I felt good physically, and I felt like I worked a good game.
Today...another school day...more softball...the beat goes on.
Apparently yesterday former President Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation in a New York court. I'm always interested to see the spin on the various cable news commentary shows. MSNBC was ready to pounce; FOXnews reported that President Trump was found innocent of rape but somehow was found liable for other offenses; and CNN seemed somewhere in the middle. Also under discussion in various forms was the debt ceiling issue and the immigration issue that are hot topics this week. FoxNews also had to lead with the potential charges to Hunter Biden. Apparently if this network focuses more on Hunter Biden, they'll be able to keep their viewers and still attract the money from their advertising clients. Of course, former President Trump said the whole thing against him was a complete hoax and witch hunt...the sum of which apparently is going to cost him around five million dollars. And Republican political leaders on their reaction to the court's decision ... noticeably silent. And yet the guy still leads in the polls as the leading Republican candidate in the next presidential election. I'm not here to suggest that President Biden is my favorite president of all time, but can't the Republican party just cut former President Trump out and find someone else that can be a reasonable republican conservative candidate? Geez.
