Thursday, January 7

6:24 a.m. - Disturbing...that's the best word to describe yesterday's events when a Trump rally in Washington D.C. eventually turned into a riot that resulted in people storming the capitol building during the count of the votes of the Electoral College.  When enough people get emotionally charged and are willing to react irrationally, bad things happen.  I went for a hike at Black Hawk State Park just to get a few moments of quite nature, and my hike was beautiful - the snow and crunch of the trail and the frosted trees was awesome.  Later in the evening I watched C-Span, and the comments made by some of the representatives and senators during the debate of objections to electoral college votes was incredible.  In the end, the United States took a black eye, but the process still worked.  Joe Biden was confirmed as President, and the inauguration will take place in two weeks.  President Trump has stated that there will be a peaceful transition of power; I hope that's true because yesterday didn't reflect a peaceful and orderly transition of power.
