1-11-21 - 4th Period

So I've considered all three topics so far today, and I think with this entry I'll revisit the day at the Capitol.  I was honestly disturbed...disturbed when I watched other protests throughout my life that turned violent and destructive in nature...disturbed when I watched 911....disturbed when I watched the Discovery Shuttle burst into flames...disturbed to see natural disasters like hurricanes and tornadoes and wildfires and derechos.  The coverage of the breach of the capital was just disturbing and hard to watch.  And yet I watched because these things are history and a breach of the U.S. Capitol is more than just history, it's historic - for crying out loud, it hasn't happened since the British did it in the War of 1812, and even during the Confederate War, the Capitol wasn't breached even though there were moments that it seemed possible.  I now struggle with the aftermath.  I think creating and inciting an event like that should have consequences for any and all people that are found to have participated - either knowingly or by negligent actions.  Yet I don't know how it will all play out.  I think it's obvious that the folks who are in the pictures like the guy with the painted face and horns...ya he's in trouble, and he should be.  The folks that are accurately identified in the video footage and photos should be held accountable...but what about any and all elected officials that may have contributed directly or indirectly.  Where is that line?
