Friday, Jan. 8, 2021

12:18 p.m. I'm home today because I had an 8:30 a.m. appointment with my family physician to do a little scrape biopsy on a mole on my shoulder that I had a little concern about.  After the procedure, the doctor said he was pretty sure it would be no concern, but it would get sent to a lab to confirm.  I hear from time-to-time that moles that don't fade, become unusually shaped, or begin to rise can sometimes be cause for concern, so when I had my physical last month, the doctor said he could have it examined but that the next appointment to be able to complete the procedure couldn't be done today.  So on the last work week of 2020, I took the days off for a colonoscopy procedure, and the first work week of 2021, I took a Friday off, but I don't really feel bad about either.  The timing isn't great, but I basically just followed the medical advice of my physicians and took the first openings that were available.  After the doctor appointment, I completed some errands and then went for a nice hike in the snow on the trails at Loud Thunder.  I was on the trails for about 40 minutes, so it was a relaxing hike without being out too long.  Navigating the trails was a bit tricky.  First, the crust of ice on top made some parts of the trail slow going.  Breaking through the crust on each step isn't dangerous or anything, just slows the pace down.  Also, wandering off the trail isn't difficult at all.  I followed the steps of other folks who had been on the trails, but I ended up following at path that I don't think was actually a trail - at least it wasn't the trail I had planned on following.  No worries, though, I found my way back with no trouble.  Now, I'm back home, and I'm going to grab a cup of decaf coffee and score some assignments.
