7:05 a.m. - Yesterday went okay.  I got things done that I needed to get done.  I was able to write out the beginning of the month bills, and then I fixed the mower.  I was very happy that the belt and mower deck piece were correctly ordered.  Then I spent time working on cleaning up the HHR after Chase's torture of it.  Then I took Amber's bike over to Bettendorf for repair.  While I didn't get all of that done by noon, I was back to the campground by around 2 p.m.  Then I finally had a chance to relax and read my new book.  We had guests for supper, so around 5 p.m. we had hot dogs, brats, and burgers.  Brandon Baker, his son Colin, and Shawn and I hung around the campfire until around 10:30, and then I tried to watch a little meTv before heading to bed.

Today?  I'd like to stay at the campground all day.  I'd also like to watch the Notre Dame game.  Other than that, not sure.

5:38 a.m. - That was a brutal week.  I'd like to avoid a week like that for a long time if possible.  

Yesterday was a half day at school.  The day, though, didn't go down quietly.  There were student struggles, the end of our safety procedures, a substitute secretary, and a professional development segment that was frustrating.  Then after school, I had intended to spend the night at the campground, but that didn't happen either.  We ended up going to the casino and then back to the campground.  I did manage to get in a little campfire time, which helped.  And I did get to watch a little meTV, and that's good too.  

Today I need to get some stuff done.  I would really like to get my beginning of the month bills out, fix the tractor, and clean the car up and get it in the garage.  If time, I'd like to get Amber's bicycle over to Healthy Habits to get it fixed.  Is there any way I could get all of that done by noon?

Friday, August 29

5:14 a.m. - I'm waking up in the camper and typing this entry in.  It's always a good day when that happens.  Yesterday was a flurry of stuff - student problems, building needs, personal issues, all kinds of stuff.  Today is only a half day, and that's a welcomed site.  Get through the day, get through the professional development session about Character Strong, and get back to the campground. 

The quick turn around of getting the camper to Deer Haven went fine.  Amber had packed most of the food items, and I just packed enough clothes for today to get to school.  I think I was pulling out at the house around 4:30, and I was set up here on Site 35 by 5:30 ish.  We just had maid rites, so it wasn't a big supper.  I did get to watch some MEtv, but I couldn't stay awake for much of it.  And then sleeping in bed was wonderful.

Wednesday, August 27

5:13 a.m. - Yesterday, was too long of a day for a Tuesday.  I tried to get a lot done, and I did get some things done.  On the other hand, a couple of students consumed a lot of my time.  That's just part of the job.  After school, I headed home and tried to make contact with Chase; unfortunately, my efforts didn't produce positive results.  The car is back; he is gone.  I don't know where he is...it sucks.  Drug abuse really is painful for more people than just the person on the substances; it leads to so many problems and difficulties.  That's all I want to say about that right now.  I can hope for a miracle to turn him around, but that's about all I can do - hope (and worry and feel horrible that I couldn't do more.)

Today will be another nice weather day.  I'm not sure what problems will surface, but like most days, something will surface.

Tuesday, August 26

4:52 a.m. - I'm watching the news, and I'm watching how President Trump is now deploying national guard troops in Washington D.C. and stating that other cities are next.  It sure seems like he's doing everything he can to turn the United States into Russia.  

I hope yesterday was the longest day of the week.  I was really tired, and it was a Monday.  Plus, we had our first volleyball match last night.  The match went fine, but it went three sets in both the fresh-soph and the varsity matches.  Needless to say, I didn't get home until 10 p.m.  Chase didn't come back to Edgington, and I thought he was going to, so I'm not sure how that went.  It was good to just get some "guy time" with Shawn, so that was a good distraction to everything else that is going on in life.

Today, there is no volleyball, so I'm hoping to get home after school and relax a bit.  What I'd really like to do is go to sleep about 9 p.m. and get just a real good night's sleep.

Monday, August 25

4:56 a.m. - Yesterday we had a birthday party at Pizza Ranch in Muscatine for Rosie.  That was after I cooked up some breakfast on the Blackstone in another nice morning with cool temperatures.  After getting back from Muscatine, I worked on mowing the yard again, but I had a couple of problems with the mower - particularly the mower deck.  A piece off the deck called a baffle broke, and then the deck belt broke.  At least I got the front yard finished.  So the mower is in the garage, and the deck belt has been ordered from Amazon and should be here in a couple of days.  Last night I watched television and went to bed.  

Today, it's back to school.  I don't think there is a lot on the agenda today.  We are going to start going over our safety drills, but that's not anything major.  After school, I have a volleyball match, which is not something I'm really looking forward to, but I do need the extra money.
